girl stood beside me. i saw
see:—a light, she said. not of the sky
i said of east or west? the heartbeat of
with his faltering flute confessed only
joy? was he
of spring here he could make
his love in the blossoming?—listen!
no music beats
falls this evening on the
the spring ere
can climb? see in
the
dew
beauty of
listen! the young girl said.
there is a light, a step, a call
i said, a waste of love imperishably old in pain,
it a fluttering heart that gave too willingly &
stammering at
a little child?—silence! the young girl said.
